Meet the Artist

Howie earned his Bachelors degree in Biology from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1982 and his Masters in Health Education from SUNY Cortland in 1990. He has been a Health and Science teacher with the Utica City School District. since 1984.

Just Neon Sign Co.: This company was founded in 1993 by Howie Cohen. Howie's had this brainy idea that he wanted to start a neon sign company. Howie was trained in the art of NEON tube bending in a small school in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. Since then, he has crafted everything from the simple OPEN sign to the complex original design company logo signs for companies such as McDonalds, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, TGI Fridays, Jack Daniels, Melitta Coffee, NBC Today Show, Kwikset Locks, Mobil Oil, The Rib Crib, TBS Superstation- Dinner and a Movie and Westinghouse.

Hobbies: Howie is the current Vice-President of the Utica Amateur Radio Club and the past Vice-president of the Mid-York Beekeepers Association. Howie's callsign is WA2TVE and has been licensed since 1977. He is also the system operator of the Ham Radio Bulletin Board (WA2TVE-4) in Utica. He has been a beekeeper and involved with the Mid York Beekeepers Assoc. since 1974.

Sporting interests: Howie is the former Varsity Tennis coach at Proctor High School. He coached the team from 1984 to 2004.
